My Little CrockPot of News and Thoughts

December 23rd! Sheesh! Where does time go? I am amazed that Christmas is just about upon us but am excited that it is here. In case I don't post on the blog for the next week or so, I want to take a minute to wish everyone a VERY Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year... ... now go eat something Christmasy... like Reindeer.

So the new season of Project Runway has started up, and the wife and I have been glued to the TV for every drama filled minute of it. One of the strongest designers this time around is a guy named Santino from LA (see above on the right). Since the first time the audience met him on the first episode of the show, he has always seemed familiar to me... but I could never quite put my finger on it. That is until last week. Does anyone else think that Santino looks like fashion industry's answer to General Zod (above left) from Superman: The Movie? And in Zod related news, though you have already been doing this already, you should all kneel before Zod... and vote for him in 2008. Update: after googling the words "Santino", "Project Runway", and "General Zod", it appears I am not alone in my observation. I will forever consider these blogging individuals as my brethren.

So here I am, sitting at the computer all alone... in the dark... so cold that I can't feel my fingers... then it hit me: I should let the world know that I am still alive. I should post to the blog. So here we are... These four images are a few backgrounds that I've done recently. Each one was done in FLASH and took me about a day to do (planning through building). Because of the pace of things, some of the layouts seemed a bit rushed to me, and I would love to go back at some point and tweak things... that of coarse will never happen because of the quick turn around of things... Blagh.

"Surprise" is the topic for this week's Illustration Friday, so I decided to reach deep down inside of my bag of random and pull this piece out. No clue what it means or where it came from. Obviously, whatever I had for dinner this evening was long past expired. Though you can't see it in the smaller size shown here, I was happy with the way the texture came out on this one. This is a cover concept for a freelance job that fell through. I had actually forgotten all about this illustration... that is until I started digging through old files on my computer this evening. This piece was a lot of fun to work on. I really feel like I started to hammer out my own style while working on this one... it has a "complete" look that I think my work lacks a lot of the time. Another aspect of this piece that I was happy about was that for the first time I was able to play with blending photography into an illustration... that's right people. that's a REAL pancake behind the title.
