After working for a couple of hours on a post about the 24 Hour Comic Challenge this weekend and then having 2/3 of it deleted while trying to publish it, I have decided that I do, in fact, hate Blogger.
A newly re-written post, plus images, is coming shortly... just as soon as I stop hating Blogger.
*grumble grumble*

This Saturday is the annual 24 Hour Comic challenge. Artists all over the world will forfeit sleep all in the attempt to produce a 24 page comic in a mere 24 hours. I will be one of those artists. This year a fellow coworker and myself will be taking up residence at Austin Books (51st & Lamar) from 10am on Saturday until the following 10am on Sunday. If you're in the area, stop by and say "Hi". We'll need the company.
Today I went an bought a few supplies for the event, including a new brush pen. These are a few quick sketches I did at work testing it out.

"Reinvent" is the IF topic this week. I drew an elephant in the ocean with a school of fish in the sky. Look how witty I am.

Even robots can feel all alone.
Here's my IF submission this week. It's about a robot named Gene who is pink. I was given another idea for this illustration from my friend Kat Evans. Hopefully, I'll get the chance to take a stab at that version soon.
Thanks Kat!

This one was from vacation last summer.
Finally, this is one of Amanda's bridal portraits. Yowaza! She looked so beautiful. Hubba Hubba!

I was going through a stack of old thing papers this weekend and found several paintings that I forgot that I did.
The first is a painting that I was originally going to do for Illustration Friday back when the topic was "friendship". I wasn't able to get it done in time so I then decided to finish it and donate it to a local silent auction benefiting the Tsunami relief effort, but I missed the deadline for that as well. Then I thought that my mom might like it so I framed it and gave it to her. She smiled when she saw it. Mission Accomplished. It's acrylic on illustration board.
The second is my small, but soon to be growing, series of portraits. I hope to one day have a whole wall full of them. They are all acrylic on watercolor paper.
The last are a couple of quick sketches I did last week. They were done with my wacom tablet in Flash.
I've got some more sketchbook stuff that I hope to post soon, as my sketchbook is almost full. In the meantime, here are some links:
Molly Crabapple- illustrator from NYC. Fun, Victorian style. You can really see the Gorey influence.
Flatstock Gigposter Convention
Also, check out Ward's Abundant Linkage. Tons of great art links.
