Recently I've been working on a new character design of an old school rapper. Not being too in tuned to the world of Hip Hop, I wasn't quite sure where to start. Thank goodness for sites like YouTube... and for jewels such as this:
The first drawing posted is the original rough character design I did. It was done quick and dirty... in Flash. The second image is the final design I ended up using. Some details got changed but overall he stayed very true to the original sketch. His pose is a frame taken from one of his animated dance cycles. At some point I'll try to post a clip.
This weekend I got word from Brannon McAllister that the brand spanking new Portland Studios blog is now available for you to check out. That's great news! If you're not familiar with Portland Studios, you can bring yourself up to date on them by checking out this post on Drawn, or by visiting their site. And while you're at it, be sure to check the personal blogs of the Portland Artists: Corey Godbey, Chris Koelle, and Justin Gerard. The work these guys produce is astounding.
To celebrate my first semi-free weekend in several weeks, I created this illustration. It was a lot of fun; goofing off usually is. Plus Amanda was kind enough to help me plan this one out, which only made it better in the end.
Here are some stills from a recent something I did at the day job. I'm not sure who this little guy that I've designed is exactly, based on this self portrait (at least I'm assuming it's a self portrait), he looks like he could be a Parpanbrother. Click on each image for a larger view.
Hello! Greetings! How are you? Good news! I'm not dead! Yaaaaay! Weeeeee! Have some cake and help me celebrate this great achievement!
This has been a busy week. So was last week. Next week will be busy too, so pardon any silence you might come across on this blog in the near future. The good news is that I've been busy for good reasons... hopefully I'll have something to share soon.
The above picture is something I did a couple of weeks ago that I never got around to posting. If you have been talking to me on Instant Messenger, then you may have already noticed this little guy. He is my AIM icon... and is often mistaken for being Santa... or a "Christmas monkey". Let it be known that he is neither.
